West Covina Coastal-Inspired Home Transformation

After living in their 75-year-old home for more than 25 years, these homeowners were ready to reimagine their space while preserving the warmth and character they loved. Their vision was a bright, welcoming home inspired by a relaxed coastal aesthetic that would better reflect their lifestyle and improve everyday functionality.

Karen Bryan Designs was hired to develop the design vision and oversee the renovation from concept to completion. Beginning with a custom design board, Karen created a cohesive plan that blended timeless finishes, architectural enhancements, and practical improvements throughout the home.

The renovation included a complete transformation of the kitchen, laundry room, guest bathroom, primary bathroom, hallway, and flooring throughout the renovated areas. Additional improvements included recessed lighting, new baseboards, expanded door casings, interior paint, and an updated fireplace hearth that elevated the home's overall appearance and architectural character.

One of the homeowners' long-time wishes was additional kitchen storage. Karen incorporated a custom pantry solution that dramatically improved organization and functionality while maintaining the home's design aesthetic.

To maximize the renovation budget, Karen partnered with a specialized cabinet refacing vendor, preserving the existing cabinet boxes while replacing the doors, drawer fronts, and hardware. This strategic approach delivered the look of a custom new kitchen while avoiding the expense and disruption of a full cabinet replacement.

Acting as both designer and project manager, Karen coordinated contractors, managed timelines, guided material selections, and ensured every detail aligned with the overall vision. From custom tile selections and lighting design to architectural details and finish materials, every element was thoughtfully curated to create a cohesive and inviting coastal-inspired home.
